JP Nadda takes oath as Union Minister

BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda takes oath as Union Minister. Jagat Prakash Nadda started student politics by joining ABVP in 1978. After this, he was the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha between 1991 and 1994. His wife Mallika Nadda was also the National General Secretary of ABVP from 1988 to 1999. Before becoming a minister in the Modi government in 2014, he was the National General Secretary of the party when Nitin Gadkari and Rajnath Singh were the presidents. BJP sent him to Rajya Sabha in 2012 and 2018. He was first elected MLA from Himachal Pradesh in 1993 and was the leader of the party in the state assembly from 1994 to 1998. After this, he was again elected MLA in 1998, this time he was made the Minister of Health and Parliamentary Affairs. In 2007, he got the opportunity to win the election again and in the government of Prem Kumar Dhumal, he was made the Minister of Forest-Environment, Science and Technology Department. On 20 January 2020, he was appointed the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party. In September 2022, Jagat Prakash Nadda’s term has been extended till 2024.
