IPS Officers Stand United Against Divisive Remarks

In a strong display of institutional unity, the Himachal Pradesh IPS Officers’ Association has publicly challenged a cabinet minister’s recent comments, calling them deeply demoralizing and harmful to the state’s administration.

The association unanimously passed a resolution expressing “deep concern and strong opposition” to statements made by Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, which they say unfairly target officers from other states.

The heart of their grievance lies in what they see as an artificial and damaging divide. “The statement creates an undesirable ‘us versus them’ dynamic between Himachali and non-Himachali officers,” the resolution states. “This directly hurts our unity and morale.”

Officers emphasized their shared constitutional duty, regardless of birthplace. “An IPS officer’s commitment is to the Indian constitution and the people they serve, not to a single region,” a senior member explained. “Questioning our integrity based on where we come from is not just incorrect; it sows distrust and weakens the entire administrative framework.”

The practical consequences of such rhetoric, they argue, are severe. It can cripple police morale, erode public trust in the institution, and ultimately hamper effective governance and service delivery to Himachal’s citizens.

In a direct appeal to the state government, the Association has made three clear requests: to protect the dignity and impartiality of the civil services, to ensure no IPS officer is posted under the minister in question until the matter is resolved, and to prevent a repeat of such divisive language.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the officers’ collective pledge: to serve Himachal Pradesh and its people with unwavering loyalty and professionalism.
