Investors and women of self help group are disappointed due to low business in the Junga Flying Festival
While paragliders from India and abroad showcased their sky-high flying skills at the Shimla Flying Festival and Hospitality Expo 2025, investors and self-help groups from various states were disappointed at the lack of sales for their products. In this recessionary period, many investors and self-help groups failed to sell their goods. Many stalls remained empty. The festival did not attract much outside crowds, as local residents were busy mowing grass. Consequently, the local population did not show much interest in the festival.
The director of Aashirwad Gram Udyog from Nagpur said that she had set up a stall of masala papad etc. but due to lack of crowd, the business was only Rs. 1000 in four days. Similarly, Chirag Self Help Group had set up a stall of various items made from pine needles with great hope but there was no sale in four days. Malti, who had come from Nagpur, had brought Maharashtra’s famous peanut and amaranth products for sale but was disappointed as there was very little sale. The women of Gauri Maa Self Help Group had a stall of hilly delicacy Siddu which earned them good income. The women who had come from Neen Panchayat of Basantpur were also disappointed with the low business.
Similarly, Shalu Saxena from Bareilly, UP had set up a stall of readymade clothes and Vishwa Kumar from Nagpur had set up a stall of bags. They said that some sales have been made. Tara Self Help Group had set up a stall of woolen sweaters made by them and Him Ira Group had set up a stall of pickles, chutney, honey, coarse grains and Pragati Self Help Group of Bhadech had set up a stall of bags and other household items but were disappointed as there was no average sale in four days. The women of the Self Help Group said that nowadays there is a lot of work in the houses like cutting grass etc., they had left their household chores and had come to earn money in the festival but all their hopes were dashed.
When MSME DFO Ashok Gautam was talked to about this, he told that in such a big festival, the MSME Ministry had given the opportunity to the investors coming from the state and other states to display their products.
