International Summer Festival of Shimla comes alive
At a recent press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, announced that the festival will commence with the traditional game of Thoda at Town Hall, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage. The administration has made thorough preparations to address the challenges of slow-moving vehicular traffic, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
The festivities will begin on June 15 with a grand inauguration by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. The first cultural evening will showcase Himachal’s renowned Nati King, Kuldeep Sharma, who is set to enthrall the audience with his soulful performance.
As the festival unfolds, Bollywood playback singer Saaj Bhatt will take the stage on June 16, followed by the melodious Mahalakshmi Iyer on June 17. The festival will culminate in a Star Night on June 18, headlined by the dynamic Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi, whose energetic performances of Hindi and Punjabi songs are sure to be a highlight.
Performers from the North Zone Cultural Centre in Patiala, as well as artists from Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab, will enhance the festive spirit with their traditional dances and performances. The festival will feature Jonsari, Bahrupiya, Kaachighori, Bioscope, Kathputli, Barsana Holi, Mayur Nritya, and Bhangra, creating a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity.
