Internal Criticism Follows Minister’s Remarks on Bureaucrats
Himachal Pradesh’s Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, finds himself at the center of an internal storm following his public criticism of certain out-of-state bureaucrats. His comments have drawn sharp rebuke from fellow ministers, highlighting tensions within the state’s leadership.
The controversy began when Singh alleged that some officials from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were not acting in Himachal’s best interests and were distributing development funds arbitrarily.
The criticism from within his own cabinet was swift and direct. Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh labeled the remarks “inappropriate and unfortunate,” arguing that such public statements demoralize the bureaucratic workforce and serve to “conceal weaknesses.”
Echoing this sentiment, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi challenged his colleague to name specific officers instead of making broad accusations.
In an attempt to calm the waters, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has sought to downplay the disagreement. The incident underscores the delicate balance between political oversight and maintaining the morale of the government’s administrative machinery.
