Institute of Professional Education (Tourism), Himachal Pradesh University Organizes Tourism Week on the Occasion of World Tourism Day

A week-long Tourism Week is being organized at Himachal Pradesh University on the occasion of World Tourism Day, coordinated by Professor Nitin Vyas of the Institute of Professional Education. On this occasion, various academic and cultural programs are being organized by the University’s Department of Tourism and Travel, aiming to spread awareness about the importance of tourism among students and research scholars and to encourage the principles of sustainable tourism.

The event, which began on September 19th, was inaugurated with a sports competition. The inaugural ceremony witnessed the dignified presence of esteemed guests, including Chief Guest Professor Hari Singh (Chairperson, Department of Physical Education), along with Colonel Rakesh Sharma of the Indian Army, Professor Sonia Khan (Director, Institute of Professional Education), Professor Sushma Rewal, Professor Chandra Mohan Parsheera, Professor Nitin Vyas, Dr. Preeti Kanwar Nagal, Dr. Vineet Kamal, Shri Surender, and Shri Vishal Mehra.

In the two-day sports competition, students demonstrated their sportsmanship by participating in various games like cricket, chess, and carrom.

Continuing the series, competitions such as the “Heritage Visit” and “Dry Food Competition” were organized today, September 25th, in which students participated.

In the Heritage Visit, 45 students visited the Rashtrapati Niwas (President’s Residence) located in Mashobra. The coordinator for the Heritage Visit, Ashish Negi, a research scholar, said that such programs are essential for the knowledge and holistic development of students, and are also very important for the skill development of tourism students.

Meanwhile, in the food competition, Shri Sushil Sharma, General Manager of GMHR Cafe and Restaurant, was present as the judge and expert. Shri Sushil Sharma evaluated the food prepared by the hotel management students and appreciated the organization of such an event.

Similar programs are being organized throughout the week, with students participating enthusiastically. Preparations are in full swing for the cultural program and closing ceremony to be held on the 29th, which will take place in the University auditorium.
