India’s ‘Lakeman’ Anand Malligawad to Lead Revival of Dull Lake

Dr. Anand Malligawad, often referred to as India’s ‘Lakeman’ for his expertise in lake conservation and rejuvenation, has been enlisted to lead the revival of Dull Lake, located in Naddi, Dharamshala. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has approved the name of renowned geologist Ritesh Arya for this important project. Deputy Chief Whip Onkar Singh Pathania confirmed that he personally met the Chief Minister in Jogindernagar to secure approval.

Pathania shared that he had an extensive meeting with officials from the Water Power, Tourism, and Forest Departments in Shimla recently, discussing ways to stop the ongoing leakage in Dull Lake and plan its revival. Detailed reports from the officials were reviewed, and guidelines were provided for the lake’s conservation.

Pathania emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving both the religious significance and tourism potential of Dull Lake, often referred to as Chhota Manimahesh. He assured that the revival work would begin soon, starting with the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR).

According to Pathania, approximately 31 million rupees have already been spent on the lake’s revival since 2004-05. This new phase of the project will be completed under the guidance of experienced experts like Anand Malligawad, known for his innovative, eco-friendly, and cost-effective techniques in lake rejuvenation. The involvement of other environmentalists will also be sought to ensure the project’s success.

Pathania reassured the public that the Chief Minister’s office is closely monitoring the situation. The state government is determined to protect sites of religious and spiritual significance, and soon, Dull Lake will be restored to its former glory, becoming a renewed center of faith and natural beauty for the region.
