Increasing stamp duty ten times is a wrong decision: Chetan Bragta

By amending the stamp duty on land purchase, the Himachal government has increased the stamp duty ten times, putting an additional burden on the state’s people. State BJP spokesperson Chetan Singh Bragta said this. He said that ever since the Congress government was formed in the state, this government has taken wrong decisions without thinking about changing the system.

It is noteworthy that now men will have to pay six percent stamp duty on purchases worth Rs 50 lakh and eight percent on purchases above Rs. Apart from this, the General Power of Attorney (GPA) fee has been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 1000, Rs 150 to Rs 1500, and Rs 200 to Rs 2000. Stamp duty has been made at a minimum of Rs 5000 on Rs 1000. It would have been right to make GPA Rs 200 instead of Rs 100, if the government had increased it by five percent then it would have been considered appropriate, but it is not right to directly convert Rs 100 into Rs 1000. Increasing stamp duty ten times is a surprising decision. People in rural areas will be unable to pay the stamp duty increase.

Chetan Bragta said that due to the wrong decisions of the Congress government of the state, the people have become disillusioned with the government. The public can never accept the increase in stamp duty by the government.
