In the wake of the Red alert district administration Shimla has issued a notice to close all schools on Aug 23-24
In the wake of a red alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) till 23-08-2023 08:00 am and an Orange alert for two days district administration Shimla declared that all schools remained closed on August 23 & 24.
Deputy commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi said in an order issued this afternoon that all the Government or Private educational institutions or University College, Schools, or Vocational training centers in Anganwari should remain closed for 02 days i.e. on 23rd August 2023 and 24th August 2023.
The Heads of these institutions should ensure strict compliance with the above-said orders being the same as a matter of public safety.
In another intimation issued by the cluster head of Doordarshan and All India Radio, Shimla, Gurvinder Singh said that due to heavy rains, landslides and soil erosion in Himachal Pradesh, the 30-meter-high tower of Doordarshan installed in the Awahdevi area on the border of Hamirpur and Mandi needs to be protected by the local people. has been declared unsafe as this tower would be demolished soon.
