Illegal liquor worth 2.96 crore seized

A spokesman of the Election Department said that in view of the model code of conduct implemented under the Vidhan Sabha elections, during the blockade carried out by the Police Department at various places in the state, cash of one lakh rupees while 1446.530 liters of English worth about Rs 417766. And country liquor and illegal beer were confiscated.
He said that 59067.328 liters of illicit liquor worth Rs 2 crore 91 lakh 68 thousand 629 was also seized by the State Tax and Excise Department.
Till now, during the joint blockade by Police, Income Tax, Industries, and Tax and Excise departments, a total of Rs 31 crore 25 lakh 91 thousand 542 worth of illicit liquor, cash, narcotics etc. have been recovered in addition to fine.
