Igniting Young Minds: Curtain Raiser for IISF 2025 at Palampur

The CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur, Himachal Pradesh, came alive with energy and excitement on November 14, 2025, as it hosted the Curtain Raiser for the upcoming India International Science Festival (IISF)-2025.

Welcoming the gathering of over 300 eager school and college students, Director Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav set the tone by highlighting the festival’s mission: to celebrate science as a way of nurturing curiosity, inspiring learning, and sparking engagement. He encouraged the young participants to seize this opportunity to be part of a national celebration of innovation and discovery.

Adding depth to the event, Dr. Shashi Dhiman, Professor of Physics at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, delivered the keynote address. He painted a vivid picture of India’s rich scientific heritage and explained its relevance in today’s fast-changing world. Speaking on the IISF 2025 theme, “Vigyan Se Samruddhi: for Aathmanirbhar Bharat”, Dr. Dhiman urged everyone to contribute towards building a self-reliant India that not only thrives domestically but also serves the global community.

Students were given a glimpse of the exciting exhibitions, activities, and highlights planned for IISF 2025, scheduled from December 6–9 at Panjab University, Chandigarh. They also toured the institute, interacted with scientists, and experienced firsthand how science connects to everyday life.

The event wasn’t just a curtain raiser—it was a spark, igniting young minds with the promise of discovery and the joy of science.
