HRTC Driver & Conductor brutally beaten on Holi in Junga – both under treatment in IGMC

Some hooligans, intoxicated with the passion of Holi, brutally beat up the HRTC driver and conductor and injured them in Junga. Both the driver and conductor are undergoing treatment at IGMC due to deep injuries. According to bus driver Hitendra Kumar, yesterday HRTC bus number HP 03B-6189 was going from Shimla to Sadhupul. While returning from Old Junga, some youths were playing Holi on the road near Panchayat Ghar Junga. When the youth, engrossed in the Holi festival, asked for a side seat in the bus, they tried to grab the driver Hitendra Kumar and pull him from the bus. When the bus conductor Rahul Chauhan defended the driver, the youth pulled him down by his hair and beat him mercilessly and left him half dead. On the other hand, some youth beat the driver and tore the electrical tubes on his head.
HRTC Drivers Union President Maan Singh Thakur has strongly condemned this accident that happened with the driver and conductor and warned the government that if all the eight accused related to this case are not arrested soon, then there will be a blockade in the entire state. Will do it. Questioning the working style of Junga police, he said that this incident occurred in Junga market at around 4 pm. The distance of the police post from the spot was one hundred meters and the police reached the spot after about two hours. Despite this, none of the rioters were taken into custody. Man Singh Thakur said that Junga police swung into action after the private secretary of the Chief Minister called. Which is very unfortunate.
Regional Manager HRTC Shimla Pankaj Thakur said that he reached the spot as soon as he got information about the incident. Expressing concern over this incident, he said that the field staff of the corporation render their services despite adverse circumstances and such incidents lower their morale, which is a matter of concern.
When this matter was discussed with Additional Superintendent of Police Shimla Ratan Negi. He said that this matter is being investigated thoroughly and all the accused related to this case will be taken into custody soon.
SHO Dhali Virochana Negi said that so far four persons have been detained in the case of assault on HRTC staff. Once the victims are identified by HRTC employees, legal action will be taken against them.
