HPU justify direct admission of faculty members wards
Himachal Pradesh University claimed itself as NAAC accredited “A” grade University made an unique provision to allow direct entry of sons and daughter in the Ph.D courses of its faculty members.
Condemning this news item as per local media reports Ph.D. admissions to the wards of HPU Employees in various subjects was done with due provision, a rebuttal issued by university spokesperson Dinesh Thakur here today said.
Spokesperson not denying Ph.D direct admission for the session 2021-22 by the Vice Chancellor of HPU, Dr. Sikander Kumar’s son Nikhlesh Kumar Badoga, HPU University Teachers Kuldeep Chand’s Dheeraj Son and college teacher affiliated to HPU Mr Kishori Lal daughter Dipti Thakur as ward members of faculty or employee said that this decision was duly approved by the executive council five years back. Spokespersons said that such arrangement was made on the recommendation of the standing committee of the Academic Council and on demand of the employees for waiving off approved fee for supernumerary seats under SFS.
The clarification said that EC in spot discussion. in its meeting held on August 21, 2021 approved admission in Ph.D. Course to wards of university employees with the regular admission schedule with one time payment of fee of Rs. 1 lac. Not only this, EC also approved one supernumerary seat each in all Ph.D. courses for Assistant Professors of the University and College Teachers; moreover notification in this regard, was also issued on the HUU website.
The decision of EC would help even the lower staff of university to provide opportunity for the highest degree which was difficult with the earlier decision by paying heavy fee under Self- financing scheme, also appreciated by the media. It is worthwhile to mention here that under the UGC guideline normal students who are not privileged enough to be the daughter and son of the faculty members or others have to qualify the National Eligibility (NET) and Junior Research Fellow test to apply and take admission in the Ph.D Courses in HPU.
Himachal Pradesh University which remained in the thick of controversy over flipflop policy of recruitment of faculty members, cases of corruptions in prospectus sale, PMT paper leak scam and tempering of mark-sheets etc shocked the people of state by granting special favor to Vice Chancellors, Director of University Institute information technology(UIIT) and Dean of Planning and Development, now attempted to justified by HPU citing the EC provisions.
