HP state staff selection commission was placed under suspension with an immediate effect

The new Congress party-led state government continues to reverse all the decisions taken by the previous BJP government and in the latest move, it has placed the Hamirpur-based HP state staff service commission under suspension with immediate effect.

The commission was set up by the BJP government (1998-2003) as HP subordinate services selection board and its name was changed to commission thereafter by the new BJP government.

It has also deferred all the tests that were to be conducted by the board in the coming month for various posts.

A notification issued by the state government said that this decision had been taken in view of various irregularities which were found in its working, especially the recruitment process for the JOA (IT) posts.

It said that the Hamirpur-based commission had eroded its credibility and as such, it was decided to suspend its work.

The order says that all the employees and other staff of the commission will report to the Officer on special duty to the staff selection commission, Hamirpur with an immediate effect till further orders.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission Dr Sanjay Thakur placed Senior assistant of the Commission, Uma Azad under suspension following the registration of a criminal case against her in the much-publicized paper leak case of the commission with regards to JOA(IT) examinations.

On other hand, the entire officialdom of the commission has come under shock over the latest order of the state government. It was not expecting such harsh action from the state government in wake of the exposure of the paper leak case.
