HP police recovered 4.4 kg Pangolin scale from a man
Hamirpur Police recovered about 4.4 kg Pangolin scale from a man who was transporting it and under wild life protection act on Monday.
The police release said that based on prior information, an accused Sunil Kumar, Resident of Bhoranj tehsil, Dist Hamirpur was arrested today while hewas about transport Pangolin Scales weighing about 4.424 kgs.
The approx cost of the catch is Rs. 9.5 lakhs to 10 lakhs in the international market and approx Rs. 3 lakhs in the local market.
The FIR has been registered in Sadar PS U/S 51 Wildlife protection act, 1972 which is punishable upto 7 years imprisonment.
Pangolins scales trafficked, poached and used for spiritual protection, financial rituals, and protection from witchcraft, alleged medicinal properties. It is an endangered species.
