Horticulture department will distribute 3500 fruit plants to Mashobra farmers
Fruit plants of different species are being made available to farmers on subsidy at the Horticulture Department’s offices in Mashobra and Basantpur for planting during the rainy season. Subject Specialist (SMS) of the Horticulture Department, Mashobra, Dr Sharad Gupta said that a total of 3500 plants are being distributed to the farmers this rainy season, which include lemon, amla, mango, litchi, chikku, jackfruit, orange and sweet lime plants.
He told that technical information related to plantation of saplings is also being provided free of cost to the farmers by the department. He urged the farmers to prepare the field and make arrangements for drainage before plantation. He told that there are immense possibilities for gardening of citrus fruit plants in Mashobra and Basantpur blocks and urged the farmers to do gardening along with agriculture which can become a source of additional income for the farmers.
Dr. Sharad Gupta said that farmers can get fruit plants from Horticulture Department, Mashobra and Basantpur office. The department will distribute the plants on first come first serve basis. The quality of the plants is excellent and these are species suitable for the local climate.
