Historic Convention of United Scheduled Caste Organizations Concludes in Shimla
A historic state-level convention of united Scheduled Caste organizations of Himachal Pradesh was successfully held at the Shimla Kali Badi.Approximately 400 representatives from 35 organizations participated in this convention.
The convention was jointly presided over by the leading members of all the organizations, while Jagat Ram conducted the proceedings. Former MLA and State Secretary of Himachal Kisan Sabha, Rakesh Singha, and former Mayor of Shimla, Sanjay Chauhan, were present.
It was unanimously decided in the convention that all organizations would wage a struggle against caste oppression and discrimination under the common banner of the “Shoshan Mukti Manch” (Exploitation Liberation Platform). Following this, a 35-member state committee was formed, in which —
Ashish Kumar was unanimously elected as the State Convener,while Rajesh Kosh and Mintaa Jinta were elected as Co-conveners.
The Shoshan Mukti Manch expressed deep concern over the Rohru and Kullu-Sainj incidents and demanded a government job and adequate compensation for Sikandar’s family. Farmers’, laborers’, and women’s organizations also pledged their full support to this joint struggle against oppression.
The State Convener of the platform, Ashish Kumar, and Co-conveners Rajesh Kosh and Mintaa Jinta informed that conventions will be organized in all districts of the state by November 15th. Statewide demonstrations will be held under the banner of “Shoshan Mukti Manch” on November 17th.
