New Kangra IT Hub to Boost Startups and Create Jobs for Himachal’s Youth

The youth of Himachal Pradesh are set to receive a significant boost in the Information Technology sector with the upcoming launch of the state’s largest IT incubation center in Kangra.

Following an inspection of the Chaitdu IT Park, Gokul Butel, the Chief Minister’s Cabinet Advisor for Innovation and Digital Technology, announced that the new center is nearly complete and will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister shortly.

“This facility will provide our young entrepreneurs with a world-class platform to launch their IT startups right here in Himachal,” said Butel. “It’s a major step towards creating local opportunities and retaining our talented youth.”

A Hub for Innovation and Jobs

Built with an investment of ₹18.29 crore on a 2-acre plot near Kangra’s Gaggal Airport, the 35,602-square-foot center is designed to be a one-stop-shop for innovation. It promises to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs while providing a new direction for software development and digital services in the region.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The new incubation center is equipped with modern amenities to foster creativity and business growth, including:

· A flexible, 106-seat “plug-and-play” workspace for startups to begin operations immediately.
· Dedicated development areas and managerial cabins.
· An auditorium, conference rooms, and meeting halls for collaboration and events.
· A dedicated network operation center for technical support.

The center aims to support 15-20 innovative startups and generate employment for 350-400 young people.

A Bright Future for Himachal’s IT Sector

With this new center in Kangra and another in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh is poised to become a leading IT hub in North India. This initiative is expected to attract more investment and provide a powerful platform for the state’s young visionaries to turn their ideas into successful businesses.

The press conference was also attended by Secretary Ashish Singhmar, Director of IT Dr. Nipun Jindal, former Mayor Devendra Jaggi, and officials from the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).
