Himachal Unites for Peace: Democratic Organizations Rally Against Rising Communal Tensions
In a powerful stand for unity, various democratic organizations including CITU, Himachal Kisan Sabha, SFI, Janwadi Mahila Samiti, DYFI, AILU, and others came together in Shimla’s Kalibari Hall for a significant convention. The event was organized in response to the deliberate spread of incidents by the communal forces, which have been fueling an atmosphere of fear and communal violence, particularly targeting a specific community and spreading fear among minorities by focusing on mosques. The convention aimed to restore peace, unity, and brotherhood across Himachal Pradesh.
The gathering saw hundreds of people participate, with notable addresses from Comrade Rakesh Singha, Sanjay Chauhan, Vijendra Mehra, Jagat Ram, and others, who emphasized the importance of preserving the state’s harmony. They called for a massive rally in Shimla on September 27 to promote public unity, communal harmony, and peace.
Himachal Pradesh has long been recognized for its exemplary social achievements in education, healthcare, and employment. The state’s reputation for brotherhood and communal harmony has made it a model for others across the country. Upholding these values, the speakers stressed, is crucial as the state faces a new challenge of orchestrated communal violence that threatens its peaceful image.
In recent days, these events have marred the state’s reputation nationally and internationally, causing concern not only for the unity of its people but also for its vital tourism industry. The tension stirred by the communal forces has disrupted the peace, created division, and harmed the state’s image.
The speakers appealed to the people of Himachal to stand together, uphold human values, and foster brotherhood. They also urged the government to take strict action against those inciting violence and division, ensuring that peace and communal harmony are preserved in the state.
