Himachal to recruit 2,800 teachers for government Schools

In a major boost for education in Himachal Pradesh, the state government is set to recruit 2,800 teachers, including JBT, TGT, and C&V positions, for its government schools. The recruitment process will be conducted through the School Education Board, Dharamshala, marking a significant shift from the usual hiring methods.

Due to delays in several pending recruitments with the State Selection Commission, Hamirpur, the Education Department has proposed this new approach. The Directorate of Education has already sent a formal recommendation to the School Education Board to oversee the hiring process.

Education Minister Rohit Thakur explained that the decision to recruit through the board was made to fast-track the process and ensure that schools are staffed on time. Discussions with the board are ongoing, and a final decision is expected soon. The rules governing recruitment have been updated, and new recruitment and promotion regulations have already been finalized. The aim is to fill these positions by the start of the 2025-26 academic session.

Minister Thakur also noted that around 2,500 JBT and TGT positions have already been filled on a batch-wise basis. Officials added that certain rule changes were necessary due to the involvement of School Management Committees in teacher appointments. The new regulations have been discussed with the Law and Finance Departments to ensure a smooth implementation.

This recruitment drive is expected to bring much-needed support to government schools, ensuring quality education for students in the coming years.
