Himachal started preparation for 3rd wave of Covid 19

This hill state toiling hard with the 2nd wave and witnessing heavy causality started preparation to face the 3rd wave of Covid 19 pandemic as it is likely to affect children more. A spokesperson of the Health Department said here today that  a committee for planning and impact mitigation of the same has been constituted under the chairmanship of Director of Medical Education, Himachal Pradesh.

He said that the committee constituted would analyze the data trends, experiences of other States and Union Territories and conduct modelling exercise to foresee and advise on the onset of next wave of Covid-19 pandemic and the changing or mutating character of the virus. He said that the committee would soon submit an action plan for the third wave of Covid-19 after assessing the current status and projected requirement of the health infrastructure such as hospitals, oxygen supplied and drug supplies in the State along with increasing isolation beds, oxygen beds, ICU beds and ventilators, keeping in mind the specialized needs of children.

He further added that the committee would advise of supply chain management of crucial services, especially oxygen and critical drugs such as Tocilizumab, Remdesivir etc. during the third wave.
