Himachal Revenue Association strongly condemned misbehavior with Tehsildar at Kullu Dussehra
The Himachal Pradesh Revenue Officers Association strongly condemned the misbehavior and assault of Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav by the Hariyan of deity at the International Kullu Dussehra Fair. The association met with Additional Chief Secretary (Home) K.K. Pant in his office on Saturday and demanded the immediate arrest of the accused. The ACS assured the association that strict action would be taken against the accused in accordance with the law.
In a joint statement issued on Saturday, Narayan Singh Verma, President and Tehsildar Junga of the Himachal Pradesh Revenue Officers Association, and Vipin Verma, General Secretary, said that such an incident involving an on-duty Executive Magistrate is unfortunate, lowering the morale of revenue officers in the state. They expressed regret, noting that an FIR was filed at the Kullu Police Station 12 hours after the incident, and two days later, the accused have yet to be arrested, which is unfortunate. They stated that the association will formulate its next strategy, and in the first phase, a pen-down strike will be held to express its anger.
President Narayan Verma stated that Tehsildar Hari Singh had apologized to the deity and the Hariyans for inadvertently wearing his shoes at the Raghunath camp. Despite this, the misbehavior by the Hariyans has raised questions about the safety of all revenue officers. He stated that revenue officers, in addition to their duties, perform disaster and other multi-purpose tasks in the field without any security or vehicle. However, the socially indecent incident that occurred with Hari Singh could have cost him his life. He demanded that the government provide security to revenue officers while performing their official duties.
On the other hand, the Himachal Administrative Service Association and the Himachal Block Development Officer Association have also strongly protested against the unfortunate incident that happened with the Tehsildar at the Dussehra fair and have extended their support to the Himachal Revenue Officer Association.
