HPU Teacher’s Association (HPUTA) representatives meet VC regarding delay in employees salaries
Representatives of the Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Association
(HPUTA) met with Prof. Mahavir Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Himachal
Pradesh University, to discuss the ongoing delay in the disbursement of
employees’ salaries.
After a detailed discussion, Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Association
(HPUTA) appreciated the efforts and proactive steps being taken by Prof.
Mahavir Singh to address the issue. The Vice Chancellor assured the Himachal
Pradesh University Teachers’ Association (HPUTA) delegation that he is in
regular contact with the State Government and is committed to resolving the
matter at the earliest. He also informed the members that he would be meeting the
Hon’ble Chief Minister within the next 2–3 days, upon his return from an official
tour in Delhi, to further pursue the issue.
Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Association (HPUTA) representatives
also expressed their willingness to accompany the Vice Chancellor in a meeting
with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, if required, and to fully support the points being
raised by him regarding the salary delay.
Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Association (HPUTA) is of the opinion
that since the year 2016–2017, there has been a significant increase in the gross
salary expenditure of the University. At that time, the salary outlay was
approximately ₹8–10 crore per month, whereas it now stands at around ₹20–22
crore per month. This increase is primarily due to the implementation of new pay
scales and a large number of new appointments made in the University.
In this regard, Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Association (HPUTA) has
repeatedly requested the past and present State Government to enhance the annual
budget allocation for the University to ₹250 crore. We once again appeal to the
Hon’ble Chief Minister to increase the University’s annual budget to ₹250 crore
and also urge the State Government to ensure that there is no delay in the
disbursement of salaries to University employees, who are under financial
pressure due to EMIs and other essential commitments.
