Himachal to Launch High-Tech Driving Training Centres
The Himachal Pradesh Transport Department is set to revolutionize driver education with the introduction of high-tech driving training centres across the state. This forward-thinking initiative aims to modernize driver training, enhance road safety, and simplify the licensing process for new drivers.
These cutting-edge centres will be equipped with advanced facilities, including driving simulators and biometric systems, to offer comprehensive training. Instructors at these centres must have a high school diploma, at least five years of driving experience, and proficiency in biometric and IT systems.
To support this initiative, the central government is providing generous subsidies ranging from ₹2.5 crore to ₹7 crore, depending on the category of the training centre. Driving schools that meet the required standards can apply for these grants to upgrade their infrastructure and training programs.
One of the standout features of this program is that these centres will be authorized to issue driving licenses directly to learners who successfully complete their training and assessments. This change will eliminate the need for applicants to visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) or Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), making the licensing process much more convenient.
The Transport Department will soon release detailed guidelines outlining the application process and operational standards for these centres. Interested parties are encouraged to visit the official Transport Department website for updates and application details.
This initiative is expected to significantly improve road safety standards and create better employment opportunities for the youth in Himachal Pradesh.
