Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. Celebrates 17th Raising Day

Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. celebrated its seventeenth Raising Day with full gaiety. The Flag of HPPCL was unfurled at Reckong Peo by Sh. Shivam Pratap Singh, Director Personnel HPPCL.The main function of the 17th HPPCL Raising Day Celebration was held at the Police Ground, Reckong Peo. The HPPCL oath was also administered to all the employees of  HPPCL on this occasion. HPPCL has two under-construction projects of 580 MW capacity in Distt. Kinnaur.

He said that HPPCL made another significant contribution to the State on 2nd December, 2023 when the Foundation Stone of the State’s largest Solar Power Project of  32 MW at Pekhubella in Una District was laid by  Sh. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh.  The funding arrangements to harness 200 MW Solar Power have been made with the World Bank and the agreement in this context has been signed on 6th November, 2023. The work for the 10 MW Aghlor Solar Power Project has also been awarded on  2nd December 2023.

He said that the construction of AFD-funded projects in Chamba District; Chanju-III Hydro Electric Project (48 MW) has been started and Deothal Chanju Hydro Electric Project (30 MW) will also begin in the next financial year. French Development Agency AFD is providing funds to the tune of 80 Million Euros for the construction of these two projects. He added that the construction of the 450 MWShongtong Karchham hydroelectric project and 130 MW Kashang hydroelectric project is going smoothly.    

He elaborated that the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs of the Government of India has cleared the funding of Rs. 6947 Crores for the Renukaji Dam Project. He said that we have distributed Rs.1073 Corers to the project-affected people of the Renukaji Dam Project. The necessary land for Compulsory Afforestation has been identified and soon we will get Stage-II Forest Clearance which will pave the way to start the construction of this project.

He said that HPPCL-commissioned projects are running smoothly and earning good revenue for the State. He elaborated that four projects of 690 MW capacity including 450 MW Shongtong Karcham Hydro Electric Project, 130 MW Kashang Stage-II and III, 48 MW Chanju-III Hydro Electric Project, and 32 MW Pekhubella Solar Power Project are in the construction stage. The DPRs of another four projects of 272 MW capacity have been approved and DPRs of another ten projects of 926 MW capacity are in the investigation stage.

Congratulating HPPCL employees on its 17th Raising Day, he appealed to work with dedication and utmost sincerity to complete the allotted projects within the time frame. 

The cultural function for the employees and their families was organized at Police Ground, Reckong Peo where the cultural presentation by HPPCL employees and their children enthralled the audience with Himachali folk songs and other melodies. The winners of the seventeenth HPPCL Sports event were also felicitated on the occasion.
