Himachal on Edge: Relentless Rains Bring Floods, Disruptions, and Warnings Across the State

The skies over Himachal Pradesh show no signs of clearing, as the state continues to endure a relentless spell of monsoon rains. In the past 24 hours, light to moderate showers have soaked most regions, while torrential downpours have battered several districts. The Meteorological Department has once again issued a heavy rainfall alert, warning that the rain is expected to continue until August 7.

Rainfall Intensifies, Alerts Widen

From August 2 to 7, Himachal is likely to see widespread rainfall, with heavy showers forecasted to return in full force from August 4. Today, a yellow alert has been issued for Bilaspur, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur, urging residents to stay cautious.

Una District Struggles with Flooding

In Una, the impact has been severe. Two days of continuous rain have left many areas submerged, with rivers and streams swelling dangerously. Roads have been damaged or blocked, and in response, the district administration has ordered the closure of all schools and educational institutions for the day.

  • August 2: Yellow alert for Bilaspur, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur
  • August 3: Yellow alert for Chamba, Kangra, Sirmaur
  • August 4: Yellow alert for Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur
    (Excludes Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti)

While some areas may see lighter showers, the overall forecast remains grim, with heavy rainfall expected to disrupt daily life in many parts of the state.
