Himachal on Edge: Fuel and Gas Worries Amid Global Turmoil

The ripple effects of the West Asia conflict are beginning to be felt in Himachal Pradesh, where concerns over fuel and gas supplies are growing. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has acknowledged that while domestic LPG cylinders are still available, commercial gas shortages are already troubling businesses.

Speaking on the situation, Sukhu reassured residents that the state currently has enough petrol and diesel for about 15 days. “There is no immediate crisis, but we cannot ignore the possibility of shortages in the coming weeks. The Chief Secretary has been directed to monitor the situation daily,” he said.

For households, the availability of domestic LPG brings some relief, but restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments are struggling to find cylinders. The looming uncertainty over petrol and diesel supplies has added to the anxiety, with the state bracing for potential disruptions if the conflict continues.

Meanwhile, in political circles, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur’s demand for a sitting judge to investigate alleged irregularities in the Himcare scheme was firmly rejected by the Chief Minister, who clarified that such probes are carried out by government agencies, not judges.

The atmosphere in Himachal reflects a mix of cautious reassurance and underlying worry—families and businesses alike are watching closely, hoping the crisis does not deepen further.
