Himachal Launches Free JEE/NEET Coaching for Government School Students, Opening Doors to National Success
In a heartening move to bridge the educational divide, the Himachal Pradesh Government has rolled out a free coaching program for Class 11 students from government schools, aiming to prepare them for India’s toughest entrance exams—JEE and NEET. The initiative, led by the Department of Education, is designed to empower bright young minds from economically weaker backgrounds and help them compete for seats in top-tier professional colleges.
Over 7,000 Students Take First Step
The journey began with an online selection test held across all 12 districts, drawing participation from more than 7,000 students. Conducted using physical question papers and OMR sheets, the exam is being digitally evaluated to ensure fairness and accuracy. Those who qualify will gain access to live, interactive online classes tailored to cover the full syllabus of both JEE and NEET.
What the Coaching Includes
This isn’t just about lectures—it’s a full-fledged support system. Students will attend two classes daily, six days a week, with personalized mentoring, doubt-clearing sessions, weekly tests, and performance tracking. They’ll also receive study materials, scholarships, help with exam registration, and counseling to guide them through the competitive exam maze.
Bootcamp for Deeper Learning
To take things a step further, selected students will attend an offline residential bootcamp. Here, they’ll dive into intensive practice sessions and receive expert mentoring aimed at boosting their confidence and sharpening their concepts.
A Vision for Inclusive Excellence
“This initiative is about more than just marks,” said Director of Education Rajesh Sharma. “We want to nurture every student’s potential and help them achieve excellence beyond textbooks.”
The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government is also pushing broader academic reforms, including the adoption of the CBSE curriculum in 100 government schools as part of the first phase. This shift is expected to raise the bar of competitiveness and increase the presence of Himachali students in national-level institutions.
Setting a National Example
By blending tech-enabled learning with focused mentoring, Himachal Pradesh is emerging as one of the few states offering structured, state-sponsored coaching for elite entrance exams. It’s a powerful step toward educational equity—giving every student, regardless of background, a fair shot at success.
