Himachal Kisan Sabha members participate in the National Council meeting of AIKS at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh

A delegation led by Dr Kuldeep Sing Tanwar, President Himachal Kisan Sabha is participating in the national council meeting of AIKS. Issues and problems related to farmers of Himachal will be discussed in the meeting. Broader issues of Government, farmer-related policy interventions, and the current agrarian crisis will also be discussed in the three-day national convention.

The All India Kisan Council of the AIKS began at Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh on 15 December 2023 with a large rally and public meeting. This AIKC meeting was held exactly one year after the 35th AIKS National Conference at Thrissur in Kerela. One Central Kisan Committee (CKC) meeting had been held at Kanchipuram in Tamilnadu in June, and two full office bearers meetings had been held at Hyderabad and Kolkata. 

The Kurnool rally of thousands of people with red flags reached the main road near the ancient Kondareddy Fort. Here AIKS president Dr Ashok Dhawale and general secretary Dr Vijoo Krishnan garlanded the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar. 

The public meeting was presided over by AIKS AP state president V Krishnaiah, and it was addressed by Dr Ashok Dhawale, Dr Vijoo Krishnan, AIKS vice president Hannan Mollah, CITU leader M A Gafoor, ex-MLA, and AIKS AP general secretary Prabhakar Reddy. 

In the morning the AIKS flag was hoisted at the Comrade N Sankaraiah Nagar. Nearly 125 AIKC members from all over India are attending this meeting. AIKS vice president M Vijayakumar placed the condolence resolution. After the presidential address in which Dr Ashok Dhawale pinpointed the international and national political challenges, Vijoo Krishnan placed the political and agrarian parts of the General Secretary’s Report. 

A resolution extending full support to the strike of over one lakh Anganwadi workers in Andhra Pradesh was moved by V Krishnaiah, and was seconded by AIKS vice president S K Preeja. It was adopted unanimously.

The discussion on the Report will begin tomorrow 16 December morning. The Organisational Report will be placed in the afternoon, followed by a discussion on the same. AIKS Finance Secretary P Krishnaprasad will place the Report on Financial Matters. The meeting will conclude on 17 December afternoon.
