Himachal Govt assures to implement the constitutional amendment to provide ST status to the Hatti community 

The Himachal Pradesh Congress Government assured the people belonging to Sirmaur districts that it would implement the constitutional amendment order to provide the Scheduled Tribe status to members of the Hatii community in Himachal. 

This assurance was given by the Industry Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan to a delegation of the Hatti community here today. According to a press release issued by the Hatti Vikas Manch here today, Chauhan who is a member of the assembly from Shillay Vidhan Sabha assured the delegation that Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and he would be ready to go to the Centre immediately to implement the decision.

This delegation led by Pradeep Singta and Dr. Ramesh Singta of HVM demanded the state government that it could not change central law and should notify the amendment made by the centre .

According to the HVM, the state government has sought clarification from the Central Government on some points on the issue. The State Government would implement the amended ST Act. The officials of HVM also submitted a memorandum to the minister.  

The Memorandum states that. Hatti community lives in the Trans Giri River of Himachal Pradesh a tributary of the Yamuna River. After almost six decades of long battle waged by the people of this community reached a logical end as the union government announced the status of Scheduled Tribe to the Hatti community. 

All the political parties and people belonging to them are assisted in this movement to preserve a long cultural tradition.

On August 4, 2023, President of India Draupadi Murmu signed the constitutional order, and a  gazette notification was already issued on the same day. The HVM said that it is imperative for the state government to implement the decisions with effect from August 4 in the state as it has become the law. 

They alleged that by delaying the implementation of the Presidential order and notifications rendering big loss to the educated youth of community which should be allowed to elibgle as the ST.  

The community has also raised this issue on the other platform as they have met the Chief Minister  Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu ji who had assured the forum to adopt and implement the law.
