Himachal Government says no to political pressure for transfers and postings

Himachal Pradesh Government today warned bureaucracy and senior officials to not effectively transfer and posting is done in the public interest.

In a memo issued by Amarjeet Singh Special Secretary (Personnel) copy of which with us said that Instances have come to the notice of this department that some IAS, HPAS, and HPSS officers put political influence and pressure for the purpose of their transfers & postings in the cadre.

A memorandum was addressed to Starw’s chief secretary, and all Indian and Himachal Pradesh Administrative and state secretariat service official mentions that transfers & postings orders of IAS, HPAS, and HPSS officers are issued in the larger public interest at regular intervals.    

“Apart from this, some of the officers, after issue of their transfer orders, proceed on leave on medical grounds, just to gain time for their adjustments at suitable stations. ” communication stated.

 This matter has been viewed seriously by the Government because it adversely affects the functioning of the concerned department(s), organization, or post and the larger public interest.  

Besides, being a member of the premier services, it is not appreciable to bring political influence and pressure to manage transfers & postings, memo said with a warning note that this is a flagrant violation of the conduct rules and unbecoming of a Government servant. 

 Taking all the relevant factors into account, it is emphasized that all concerned officers restrain themselves from exerting any kind of political influence or pressure to manage transfers & postings in the cadre and join at their respective places of postings as per the orders of the Government, failing which will entail disciplinary action. These instructions are to be adhered to strictly, govt added.
