Himachal government is keeping a close eye on the drinking water supply: Awasthi

State Congress Working President Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi has taken former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur to task over his statement about the alleged crisis of drinking water due to increasing heat in the state and said that the state government is fully aware of providing drinking water to the people and is working with full dedication. He said that every year during summers, a little problem of drinking water arises and the state government provides it to the people at their doorsteps through tankers. He has advised the BJP to make a statement with restraint on the drinking water problem so that no atmosphere of fear or panic is created among the people.

Sanjay Awasthi reminded former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur that during his tenure as Chief Minister, when there was a drinking water crisis in Shimla, he had raised his hands and advised the tourists in the media not to come to the state, due to which the tourism business of the state suffered a major setback. He said that the former BJP government is making baseless allegations against the Congress government to hide its failures and to remain in the media.

Awasthi said that the state government is keeping a close eye on the drinking water supply and it is being reviewed regularly. He said that there is no crisis of drinking water in the state. In the state, along with cities, in rural areas where there is a problem of drinking water, adequate drinking water is being provided through tankers.
