Himachal CPI(M) staged a dharna against the attacks on Palestinian people

The state unit of CPI(M) condemns the attacks and counter-attacks between Hamas and Israel in the Gaza Strip of Palestine and demands an immediate stop to these inhumane actions. The party held a demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, in Shimla on Friday.

State Secretary Omkar Shad, Kuldeep Tanwar, District Secretary Sanjay Chauhan, State Committee member Falma Chauhan, Jagmohan Thakur, Rajinder Chauhan, Satyavan Pundir, Ram Singh, Balak Ram, Reena Tanwar, Anil Thakur, Vinod Bisaranta, Vijay Kaushal, Amit, Himmi, Ramakant Mishra, Sonia, Seena, Raman Tharta, Harish, Surjit, Sunny Sekata, Santosh, Ankush, Kamal etc. participated in the demonstration and demanded that this confrontation should be stopped.

Mr Shad stated that reports have been pouring from the conflict zone for the last 14 days that around 4900 people have been killed and around 13300 people have been injured.

 So far 3785 people have died in Gaza. These include 1524 children and 120 elderly people. 12493 people have been injured. In which there are more than 4000 children. 

On Tuesday, October 17, a rocket attack on a hospital in Gaza killed more than 500 people. Many people have already lost their lives in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine and now this latest conflict has worsened the situation and will lead to more deaths and suffering. Israel has imposed a blockade in Gaza and is now preparing for a ground war along with air strikes. 

Water, electricity, food, and other humanitarian aid have been cut off in many areas, causing severe shortage of basic needs in many parts of Gaza. Israel’s right-wing Netanyahu government is openly occupying Palestinian lands and building Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

 So far this year, 248 Palestinians have been killed in this conflict, including 40 children. Palestinian families are being forcefully evicted from Jerusalem. The Gaza Strip, where more than 23 lakh Palestinians live, has been severely blockaded by Israel for the last 16 years. 

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) urges the international community, including the United Nations and the Government of India, to ensure that this conflict is stopped and to take steps to implement the UN resolution.
