Congress submits Memorandum to Governor for JPC and patronage of Adani Group by BJP

On the call of the Indian National Congress, the Himachal Pradesh Congress Party today marched under the ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ campaign to protest against the investment of the country’s basic enterprises in the Adani group by the BJP government at the Center and the sale of the central government to crony capitalists. Under the leadership of State Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Smt. Pratibha Singh, a memorandum was submitted to His Excellency the President of India through Honorable Governor Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla. Through this memorandum, while discharging its constitutional duty, an important matter in national interest was brought to notice. After coming to power in the year 2014 by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government at the center, the central government has been continuously selling various undertakings of basic national importance to a crony capitalist Adani group of Gujarat and for the development of the country and the welfare of the people. Thousands of crores of rupees were invested by the State Bank of India and LIC Insurance Company in his private companies. Adani Group’s shares fell heavily after the revelations of Hindenburg, a foreign company that assesses the financial condition of companies in the stock market. Due to the drowning of the amount of other financial institutions including SBI and LIC Insurance Company, they suffered huge losses. In spite of this, the Central Government is constantly pressurizing the Central Government to invest in Adani’s companies. After gaining independence from colonialism in 1947, after India became a republic, under the able leadership of our party, the Indian National Congress, many National level undertakings were formed at a time when our nation was making an important place on the world stage by facing many challenges.
For the last seven decades, all those undertakings have been contributing significantly in the development of our country, as well as providing employment opportunities to lakhs of people and in the development of the nation.
Through this memorandum, His Excellency the President was requested to take appropriate steps by the Central Government to sell these undertakings and save institutions like SBI and LIC Insurance Company from falling prey to capitalists. The Congress Party has demanded that the investigation of the economic scam done by the Adani Group in the above institutions should be conducted by the Joint Committee of the Parliament (JPC). Among those who handed over the memorandum to the Honorable Governor, Mr. Sanjay Dutt, National Secretary and Co-Incharge of Congress Party, Mr. Kuldeep Rathore, Former Party President and National Spokesperson, All India Congress Party and MLA, State Congress Party Working President and MLA Vinay Kumar, MLA Nand Lal, MLA Ravi Thakur, MLA Harish Janartha, State Congress Committee General Secretary and Convener Chalo Raj Bhavan Abhiyan Devendra Bushahri were involved. In today’s campaign, State Congress Committee General Secretary Amit Pal Singh, Yashwant Chhajta, other office bearers of the state including District Shimla Urban President from all districts President, Block President, Mahila Congress President Mrs. Zainab Chandel, Sewa Dal President Anurag Sharma, INTUC President Hardeep Bawa, Scheduled Caste Department President Amit Nanda, State Congress Secretary Harikrishna Himral, Military Department, Youth Congress and other department officials including party officials. Hundreds of people participated in this demonstration.
