Himachal Congress disqualified MLA shown door by AICC

AICC secretary and disqualified MLA Sudhir Sharma was removed from the post of secretary with immediate effect. In a one-line press release issued by the AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said that Congress president Malikarjun Kharge removed Sudhir Sharma from the post of AICC secretary with immediate effect.

The party did not cite any reason to show the door to the disqualified MLA but it is self-understood that he was removed from the party post after he crossed vote against the Congress Rajyasabha candidate from Himachal Pradesh and noted lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi and letter defied the party whip during a budget discussion in the state assembly recently.

It is worth mentioning that six MLAs belonging to the Congress party were disqualified by the Vidhan Sabha Speaker on February 29 on the complaint of the Congress legislative party. Now six dissidents are provided hospitality in a tourist resort at Panchkula and they are accused by Congress to enjoying the hospitality of the BJP government of Haryana and the union government.

Disqualified MLAs are giving statements against the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stating that they dissent on the functioning and working of the Chief Minister and cross vote in favor of BJP candidate Harsh Mahajan in the RS poll as Abhishek Manu Singhvi shouldn’t be projected as Congress candidate. Dissidents and BJP targeted the candidature of Singhvi by stating in the media that he opposed the state government in the Himachal Pradesh High Court on the matter of Water Cess. It is worthwhile to mention that the Union Government also opposed the Water Cess issue in the high court as Solicitor General Tushar Mehta along with Singhvi and the High Court struck down the HP Water Cess Act 2023 yesterday.
