Himachal Braces for Rain, Snow, and a Return of Winter Chill

After days of clear skies and warm sunshine, Himachal Pradesh is preparing for another sudden shift in weather. The western disturbance moving in is expected to bring rain, snowfall, and strong winds over the next three days, pulling temperatures down and intensifying the cold.

On February 9, light showers and snow may touch parts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Kinnaur. By February 10, the disturbance will peak, spreading rain and snow across most of the state. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30–40 km/h. On February 11, bad weather may linger in Lahaul and Chamba, while the rest of Himachal clears up.

For residents, this means a return to winter discomfort. Plains may feel sharper chills in mornings and evenings, while hill regions brace for harsher cold. Kukumseri has already recorded the lowest temperature at –13.7°C, while Una and Paonta Sahib saw highs of 25°C, showing the stark contrast across the state.

Locals who had begun enjoying sunny days now find themselves preparing again for icy winds, slippery roads, and the familiar bite of Himachal’s winter.
