Himachal Assembly Gears Up for Crucial Budget Session on February 16

The Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly is set to begin its eleventh session of the fourteenth Assembly on February 16, 2026, with Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania announcing that this will be the budget session, starting at 2 PM. All eyes are on Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who will present his fourth budget, a moment that has already stirred political anticipation across the state.

The session will open with the Governor’s address, followed by condolence motions honoring departed souls. Legislative business will then move forward with discussions on bills and proposals.

This session carries high political weight, especially as debates intensify over the discontinuation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG). The opposition is expected to challenge the government strongly, making the budget presentation a focal point of heated exchanges. Sukhu’s previous budget was presented in March 2025, and this time, both citizens and legislators are hoping for major announcements that address pressing concerns.

Speaker Pathania assured that the Assembly Secretariat is preparing thoroughly for smooth proceedings. Key issues such as government achievements, future plans, and matters of public interest will be discussed in detail, with a commitment to conducting the session in an organized and effective manner.
