Higher reaches of Kinnaur witness light spells of snowfall

The Higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh received a light spell of snowfall increasing cold waves in the state as it was mainly cloudy sky in the state.

An active Western Disturbances responsible for partly inclement weather conditions have been active since November 25 in the state and did not impact the dry weather conditions in the rest of the state.

In District Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, Chanba, and Shimla likely to be scattered rain or snowfall in the next 24 hours, whereas in the districts Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Shimla, Mandi, Kinnaur, and Lahaul Spiti light rain or snowfall likely to occur at isolated place, the IMD announced in the fresh weather forecast this afternoon.

According to the Met Office, synoptic features of cyclonic circulation and WDs are responsible for inclement weather conditions however the WDs became weaker and impacted western states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, and central India.

IMD said that inclement weather conditions due to cyclone circulation could prolonged for the next three days however rain and snowfall would occur at isolated places.

The minimum temperature in the state was mainly normal as Keylong was at minus one degree in Lahaul Spiti, Kalpa 0.6, Airport Bhuntar and Manali three, Narkanda four, Kufri, Una Chamba and Solan six each Dalhousie & Shimla eight, Dharmshala and Jubberhati airport nine.

Maximum Temperature dipped by two to three degrees as tourist resort Dalhousie  13 degrees on Monday, Chamba & Dharmshala 20 degrees, Kangra 21, Keylong 8, Kalpa 10.8(five degrees down if yesterday)

The maximum temperature of Shimla was Shimla 13.6 and 4.7 down of Y’day, Kufri Nine, Jubberhat airport, and Solan 17 and, Narakanda Nine respectively.
