HGVS launches Mothers Against Addiction (MAA) campaign on International Women’s Day

Chief Minister launched the campaign at the state level Women’s Day celebration

The Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti has taken another powerful initiative in the campaign against drug addiction. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the committee launched its ambitious “Mothers Against Addiction” campaign. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the campaign at the state-level Women’s Day celebration in Nahan by unveiling the campaign’s banners and posters.
Satyawan Pundir, the committee’s state secretary, informed that on the occasion of Women’s Day, the Mothers Against Addiction campaign organized 24 events in more than 20 blocks across eight districts of the state, in which thousands of women participated. Rallies were held in various blocks, and memorandums were submitted to government officials through conventions and meetings, urging all mothers to join the campaign to fight a decisive battle against drug addiction.
National Convenor of the Samata Subcommittee, Sumitra Chandel, and State Convenor, Sunita Bisht, stated that the committee wants to empower every mother as a recognizer and decision-maker, enabling her to discern from her child’s behavior whether or not they are becoming addicted to drugs. She can also assume the role of a decision-maker in the family, recognizing her child’s drug addiction and making timely, appropriate decisions about their treatment.
He said that through the committee, a demand has been made to the government to train women so that they can be able to play their important role.
Youth sub-committee convener Suresh Pundir said that after the web series The White Truth, this is another strong initiative of Gyan Vigyan Samiti in the Maa Abhiyan campaign against drug addiction.
