Heavy Debris Causes Road Closure and Flash Floods in Himachal

After the rain, heavy debris came down from the hill near Gambarpul on the road connecting Kunihar-Nalagarh in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. About three to four vehicles were hit by this debris. Fortunately, there has been no loss of life or property. Following the debris fall, the road has been closed for traffic.

Himachal Pradesh witnessed massive destruction during the monsoon season last year, and the people have not forgotten those horrific scenes. With the monsoon season approaching again, fear lingers among the residents. Rain in Solan has brought back the horrific memories of last year, terrifying the people once again.

The debris from the hill near Gambarpul has completely filled the area with mud. Local people informed the PWD department, and SDM Arki also reached the site. Efforts are underway to clear the big rocks from the road and reopen it for traffic, with both the department and local people working on the removal.

Additionally, heavy rains last night caused a flash flood in the Madgra drain in Udaipur of Lahaul Spiti, flooding the Udaipur-Tandi road. Vehicles were stuck on both sides of this road for about 7 hours. The BRO has now restored this route, allowing the movement of vehicles to resume.
