Gurupurab celebrated with religious enthusiasm at Chandigarh Vidya Jyoti Eduversity

The 554th birth anniversary of Guru Shri Nanak Dev Ji, the founder and first Guru of Sikhism, was celebrated with religious fervor. The main event was organized on 28th November 2023 at Chandigarh Vidya Jyoti Eduversity under the guidance of Gurudwara, Golumajra. These Gurus were responsible for shaping the beliefs of the Sikhs. His birthday, known as Gurpurab, is an occasion of celebration and prayer among Sikhs.

Shabad-kirtan, katha and discourse on the teachings and life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji were the main attractions of the festival. Guru Granth Sahib Sukhmani Path and Ardaas were recited. During the programme, various schools and colleges (Guruteg Bahadur Senior Secondary School, Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Public School, God Blessing Public School, GSSS Amlala School, GMSSS Chandigarh, Government College, Derabassi, Longowal Polytechnic College) participated in the competition like Shabad Kirtan Was. Turban tying, poetry, painting and sketching. The program lasted for 2 hours, followed by prize distribution and langar. The college faculty also contributed greatly by serving prasad in the langar. Prizes were distributed by Dr. DJ Singh and Mrs. Manpreet Kaur to the participants of all schools and colleges.
