Guarantees of upliftment of orchardists are hollow, farmers are running from pillar to post for fertilizers: BJP
BJP state spokesperson Sandipani Bhardwaj launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, expressing deep concern over the lack of timely availability of fertilizers through the HPMC. He said that under Congress rule, the state’s gardeners are facing severe hardship, and all the government’s so-called “gardener upliftment” guarantees have proven to be a complete failure.
Sandipani Bhardwaj said that orchardists are forced to visit Lokmitra centers and tehsils, but ultimately return empty-handed. HPMC’s storage facilities are empty, and the lack of spray oil and other essential fertilizers during this crucial time for apple farming demonstrates the government’s gross negligence and failure.
He said that the Congress government makes plans and announcements on paper, but on the ground, gardeners are not receiving any benefits. The lack of timely fertilizers and sprays has increased the risk of adverse effects on crops, potentially causing huge financial losses to gardeners.
The BJP state spokesperson said that gardeners are already grappling with weather vagaries, rising costs, and market uncertainties, and the Congress government’s failures have further compounded their difficulties. He alleged that institutions like the HPMC have been completely crippled, and no government department is willing to take responsibility.
Sandipani Bhardwaj demanded that the state government immediately make fertilizers available in HPMC warehouses and provide relief to orchardists. He warned that if the Congress government doesn’t resolve the issue quickly, the BJP will not hesitate to take the issue from the streets to the House of Representatives in the interest of orchardists.
