Govt adopting Hitler-like attitude towards Zilla Parishad employees: Balveer Verma

Zilla Parishad cadre employees are on continuous strike in Himachal Pradesh. The government wants to put pressure on these employees and send them back to work. These allegations have been made by BJP spokesperson Balveer Verma. He said that 4700 employees of the Zilla Parishad cadre are continuously demanding a merger with Panchayati Raj or Rural Development Department. Apart from this, they are also demanding salary and appointments on a regular basis on the same lines. The government talked about issuing an order to take action against the employees who went on strike, which Verma termed as adopting a Hitler-like attitude against the employees.

BJP spokesperson Balbir Verma said that the government’s attitude towards the Zilla Parishad cadre employees who went on strike is like Hitler and the government wants to make the employees return to work by intimidating them. He said that it has been more than a month since the Zilla Parishad cadre employees went on agitation but till now no solution has been taken by the government. Balveer Verma said that the Congress government of the state makes tall claims of development but the development work in 32 panchayats is at a standstill. He said that the government is talking about taking action against these employees which is completely wrong. The former BJP government issued a notification and gave regular basis appointments and salaries to these employees. Employees had also started receiving salaries. But Congress denotified the notification as soon as it came to power. He said that the work area of Rural Development and Zilla Parishad employees is the same but there is a big difference in the salary. In such a situation, the government should immediately solve the problems of the employees who went on strike.

He said that in the disaster-affected areas, with the help of these employees, the government could have provided assistance to the poor, exploited, and deprived people after assessing the damage caused by the disaster. But due to the indifferent attitude of the government, this work is getting delayed. He has expressed apprehension that snowfall season is going to start in the state soon due to which more than half of Himachal Pradesh will be cut off from facilities for at least 4 months. In such a situation, this delay will be costly for the people of the state. Therefore, the government should resolve this issue by talking to these workers as soon as possible.
