Governor appreciates the programs of Goan Folk Artistes

The Department of Languages, Arts and Culture organized ‘Goenchi Sasay’ program at the historic Gaiety Theatre Shimla today in association with Rangmel Goa Group. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar attended the program as the chief guest.

  The folk artistes of Goa presented a beautiful glimpse of the rich traditional culture of Goa through folk music and dance. On this occasion, the Governor appreciated the performance of the artists and said that the culture of Goa and Himachal was very rich. He said that such programs provide ample opportunities for cultural exchange. He also emphasized upon the preservation of folk culture. He said that the people of Goa and Himachal were culture lovers and they celebrated all the festivals with enthusiasm. He said that seeing the program, he felt like Goa in Shimla.

   This program was presented under the direction of Rangmel Goa Group chief Kanta Gawade. Earlier, Director, Language Arts and Culture Department, Pankaj Lalit welcomed the Governor. Chairman, Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Captain Rameshwar Singh Thakur, Secretary to the Governor Rajesh Sharma and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
