Government should create basic facilities in Super Specialty Hospital Chamiyana : Dr Tanwar
Doctors and patients are facing problems due to lack of basic facilities in the hospital
Even after nearly nine years, no government has been able to make adequate arrangements to deal with disasters, including snowfall, at the Super Specialty Hospital, Chamiyana, due to which the hospital’s staff and patients are facing a lot of hardship. This allegation was made by Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar, State President of Himachal Pradesh Kisan Sabha, in a statement issued on Friday. He said that after nearly four months, the weather has changed and it is snowing, but the hospital administration does not have chained ambulances or other vehicles. There is also no residential facility for the staff.
He stated that the hospital employs approximately 300 specialist doctors, including 300 staff, and over 1,000 patients undergo outpatient checkups daily. Additionally, the hospital has a capacity for approximately 400 indoor patients. He added that the lack of residential facilities in Chamiyana makes all staff members come from various areas of Shimla, making it difficult for both indoor patients and hospital staff to reach their duties.
Dr. Tanwar stated that in 2024, the Honorable High Court took suo motu action and ordered the government to complete all infrastructure developments at the Super Specialty Hospital in Chamiyana. However, to date, neither a double-lane road has been constructed for the hospital nor has it provided residential facilities for emergency services. He stated that the hospital has been inaugurated twice. He added that 10 of the 12 super specialty departments at IGMC have been shifted to Chamiyana.
Dr. Tanwar has requested the Himachal Pradesh Government to give priority to the creation of basic facilities in the Super Specialty Hospital so that the staff and patients do not face any inconvenience.
