Government released MLA fund under pressure from BJP legislature party: Randhir

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Legislative Party Secretary Randhir Sharma said that due to pressure from the BJP Legislative Party, the present Congress government has finally released the last installment for the financial year 2023-24 under the MLA Area Development Fund Scheme. The government took this decision completely under the pressure of the legislative party of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

He said that the last installment of MLA Area Development Fund had not been released yet by the State Government and Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur had opened a big front regarding this. After closing everything, now the government has also closed the funds of the MLAs. Therefore, the BJP MLAs held a virtual meeting and decided that in protest, 25 BJP MLAs would not attend the MLA priority meeting to be chaired by the Chief Minister. If this happens, it will be the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, Jairam Thakur demanded that the government should release the MLA Area Development Fund by 28th January. Otherwise, BJP MLAs will not participate in the annual planning meetings to be held on 29 and 30 January.

Randhir Sharma said that as the installment of the MLA fund has been released all the BJP MLAs will regularly participate in the annual planning meetings and put forward the priorities of their respective areas before the government.

He informed that the Legislative Party meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party will start on January 29, 2024, at 7 pm at Circuit House, Shimla under the chairmanship of Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur. In this meeting, a detailed discussion will be held regarding the assembly session starting from February 14 and a concrete strategy will also be decided.
