Good News for Himachal’s Job Seekers: 25,000 Government Jobs to be Filled in 2025-26
Thousands of youth waiting for government jobs in Himachal Pradesh have reason to celebrate. The Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government is set to provide employment opportunities to thousands in the public sector in the upcoming financial year 2025-26. Chief Minister Sukhu announced this during the budget presentation in the state assembly on March 17, revealing that 25,000 vacancies across various departments will be filled within the next year. The recruitment process for these positions will begin soon.
Major Recruitment in Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department
As per the budget announcement, 1,142 posts in different categories will be filled in the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department alone. This will not only improve rural services but also create employment opportunities for the youth.
- 853 Panchayat Secretaries will be recruited directly.
- 219 Technical Assistants, 65 Junior Engineers (JEs), and 5 Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) will be filled through promotions.
Currently, many panchayats in the state are understaffed, with a single employee handling multiple panchayats, leading to delays in public work. This recruitment drive aims to accelerate rural development and ensure better governance.
Education & Healthcare Sector Jobs
The education sector will see 1,000 new appointments in schools and colleges. Additionally, around 1,000 contractual employees across various departments will be regularized.
In the healthcare sector, the following positions will be filled:
- 200 Ayush Medical Officers
- 3 Homeopathic Medical Officers
- 3 Sowa Rigpa Medical Officers
- 2 Unani Medical Officers
- 52 Ayurvedic Pharmacy Officers
- 32 Lab Technicians
- 33 Staff Nurses
- 82 ANMs
- 42 Junior Office Assistants (IT)
Police & Other Departments
- 1,226 Police Constable posts are already under recruitment, while 1,000 more vacancies will be filled in the new financial year.
- The long-pending B-1 promotion exam for around 500 police constables will finally be conducted—the first since 2017.
- 113 Home Guard Volunteer Drivers will be recruited under the Home Guard and Civil Defence Department.
- The Jal Shakti Department has approved the hiring of 4,500 para workers, including:
- 2,500 Multi-Purpose Workers
- 1,276 Para Pump Operators
- 500 Para Fitters
- 92 Para Cooks
- 132 Para Helpers
