From Labs to the Playing Field: CSIR-IHBT Wraps Up Joyful National Sports Day Celebrations
The CSIR-Institute of Himalayan Bioresource Technology (CSIR-IHBT) turned its campus into a hub of energy, camaraderie, and sportsmanship as it concluded its three-day National Sports Day celebrations on August 31, 2025. The event kicked off on August 29 with a spirited Fit India Pledge, led by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Yadav, Director of CSIR-IHBT.
Held in honor of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand’s birth anniversary, this year’s theme — “Har Gali, Har Maidan; Khele Sara Hindustan” — truly came alive as staff and scholars enthusiastically participated in a variety of games and activities.
A Celebration of Fitness, Fun, and Unity
The institute’s grounds buzzed with excitement as outdoor sports like Cricket, Volleyball, and Athletics brought teams together in friendly competition. Indoors, the action continued with Table Tennis and Carrom, where strategy and skill were on full display.
More than just games, the celebrations promoted wellness, teamwork, and an active lifestyle, reinforcing the importance of physical fitness in daily life. The event also strengthened bonds among colleagues and scholars, creating lasting memories beyond the lab and lecture halls.
