Fresh snowfall Mercury plummets in Himachal

Inclement weather and snowfall on high reaches plummets Mercury in Himachal Pradesh as bone chilling coldwave unabated normal life in the state. High reaches of Lahaul-Spiti district including 13050 ft high Rohtang pass, Lady of Keylong, seven sisters hills, Goshal hill, Kinnerkailash of Kinnaur and Jaloripass of Kullu district recorded light snowfall. Gondala in Lahaul-Spiti had one centimetre snowfall. Coldwave intensified after fresh snowfall in the state as minimum temperature of Kaza in Spiti subdivision recorded minus 20 degrees, district headquarter Keylong in Lahual Spiti minus 8.2, Kukumseri minus 7.7, Kalka in Kinnuar minus 3.6, Shimla 2.2, Narkanda minus 2.3, Kufri and Manali minus 0.3, Solan 0.3, Una 0.7, Dalhousie 1.7, Hamirpur 1.8, Mandi 2.2, Kangra 4.2 and Chamba 3.7 degrees. There were 88 roads snowbound including two National Highway . District Administeration Lahaul-Spiti said that Manali Leh National Highway ( NH – 003 ) is open to all types of vehicles except two wheelers till Darcha . Darcha Shinkula road is closed for all types of vehicles due to snowfall yesterday. The Pangi – Killar Highway ( SH – 26 ) is open to all types of vehicles . Kaza road (NH-505) is closed for all vehicular traffic. In Lahaul-Spiti district 83 roads are snowbound. Moderate Fog distrupted vehicular traffic at Una ad visibility reduce to 200m. Dense Fog also paralysed vehicular traffic in the wee hours at Bilaspur and, Mandi ad visibility reduce to 50m. Met Office forecast mainly dry weather conditions in next 24hrs which would increased to coldwave in some pockets of state.
