Four Dead and Three Injured as HRTC Bus Plunges into Gorge in Shimla
In a tragic accident on Friday morning, four people were killed and three injured when an HRTC bus fell into a gorge at Giltadi in the Jubbal subdivision of Shimla district.
According to Superintendent of Police Shimla, Sanjeev Gandhi, the accident occurred early in the morning while the bus was traveling from Kudu to Giltadi. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge. Among the deceased are the driver and the conductor.
At the time of the accident, seven people were on the bus. Three passengers sustained grievous injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Karam Dass (driver, HRTC), Rakesh Kumar (conductor), Birma Devi (wife of Amar Singh), and Dhan Shah (son of Chander Shah, a Nepal citizen). The injured passengers are Jiyender Rangta, Deepika (daughter of Sanjay Thakur, Giltari), and Hast Bahadur.
Bodies have been retrieved from the wreckage and will be handed over to their families after postmortem examinations, added the SP.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident. The bus suffered total damage from the impact.
